Carriage Hill Farm just north of Dayton Ohio is a working 1800s historic farm located north of Dayton, Ohio.  The farm is part of Metro Parks Dayton and a highly visited tourist and family attraction.  Tom has been visiting this farm since the mid 1980s.   The farm is rich in history and visitors are encouraged to particpate in the farm activities.  Some routine features are plowing contests, hayrides,  seed plantings by students, and cooking.  Additionally there are seasonal and annual events.  An active blacksmith and carpenter’s shop make the experience even more genuine.  Tom routinely visits the farm to get photos of the animals, barns, farming machinery and implements.

Blue Ridge Parkway: A great scenic tour for anyone who loves nature or wants a great scenic car tour as you meander through over 400 miles.  There are recreational sites, campgrounds, picnic areas and trails dotted along the way.  In addition, there are several lodges and restaurants and you can always get back to civilization at one the entrances/exits to the park.  One of the historical facts about this road is that it was built during the depression years as a way to keep men employed.  Many of the lessons they learned while building the road are still used today as standards in road building.  To learn more, click here to go to http://www.blueridgeparkway.org.
