Train Cab Reflection

This photograph was taken at the Covington, Kentucky, Rail Yard Museum.   It is one of the most intriguing photos I’ve ever taken.

This museum is a great place to go to see trains that have been, are, or will be restored.  Makes a terrific photo shoot!

The staff is just fantastic — a great group of people who truly enjoy the trains and sharing their love of trains with others.

I couldn’t get inside of this older train cab.  So I stood on the catwalk outside the front window of  he cab.  By using custom reflectors I made just for my camera,  I was able to light up the inside of the cab enough to see the chair and some other interior features.

But I had a extra surprise awaiting me, that I now share with you!

My reflectors caused the window to act like a mirror.  So you not only see the inside of the cab and the windows of the door that is in the rear of the cab, but you also see the sky reflected like it is the ceiling.  You can also see me as I take the photo.

Chicken I

This is one of my first Gouache water color painting series of 2009.  These chickens are shown in the shadow of the fence.  Chickens are one of my favorite farm animals .  (I also like to have them as household pets, but my wife says “no” even though she had one when she was little)

Check out Chicken II in  this series which is the same image in multiple colors.  No, these are not altered by computer.  These colors are the ones I’ve chosen to  use to complete these paintings.

I find this particular medium fun because it allows me to be creative and use my imagination.
