Floral Five
This is a floral wet on wet oil (original size 16″ x 20″).
Are you interested in painting this or another basic floral? I can introduce wet on wet techniques to experienced painters.
If you’ve never painted a floral before, or never painted at all, I can teach you how–read on! Here is my plan for those with no experience or little practice in using oils–specifically wet on wet oils for this scenario:
First, we’ll do three to five small landscape paintings that take about an hour each to accomplish. This gives you an idea how to hold the brush and apply paint. Yes, you will accomplish a completed painting in one hour on an 8″ x 10″ or 9″ x 12″ canvas. I supply everything for all my classes, so all you need to do is be on time for class.
After this, we’ll move to two to three seascape paintings (again 1-hour instruction periods) in which you complete a sea or ocean scene. The strokes you learn here are different than those you learn on a mountain and meadow or woodland scene.
Next, you’ll use floral wet on wet oils to do several small florals (1-2 hour instructions depending on your skill and comfort levels). Foral wet on wet oils are different than regular wet on wet oils. So, you need a little practice with these before moving on to the larger size canvases.
After a few instruction classes several days (or a lesson or two each week), you will meet your goal–what you’ve been waiting for–YOU will create a floral on a 16″ x 20″ canvas and be on your way to painting on your own or advancing through additional courses. Students, their family, and friends enjoy watching the level of progress improve with each painting. Many of my students report that their family and friends can’t believe they are the ones who painted the piece of artwork. Many students, themselves, can’t believe they actually did a painting either.
